As part of my practice, I have an active association as Of Counsel with the law firm of Zipp & Tannenbaum, LLC, the founder and managing partner of which is my long time friend and colleague Peter Zipp. Peter has earned the MAI and SRA designation. After working at the Greenbaum Law Firm and thereafter at well-respected real estate tax appeal law firms, he then started his own real estate tax appeal firm over 20 years ago.
To many, Peter is among the most sophisticated and successful real estate tax appeal lawyers in the state. He represents primarily property owners pursuing tax appeals but he also represents municipalities. His colleague Paul Tannenbaum is also admitted and does tax appeal work in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The firm contains 5 other lawyers in addition to Peter and a staff of 7 experienced paralegals and secretaries who are themselves well versed in the real estate tax appeal process. His experience covers both the County and the State Tax Court. The properties he handles include major retail, office and industrial establishments. Peter files annually over 800 tax appeals in the tax court. Among his clients are Mack/Cali, Prologis, the Frank Greek Organization, Merck, and the Klatskin organization.
In addition, and as a logical and complementary practice, Peter has a successful practice in eminent domain and condemnation matters combining his MAI/ CRE abilities with his litigation experience. His practice also encompasses all redevelopment matters from inception to implementation both in cities and suburbs enabling us to combine his redevelopment experience with my general commercial real estate experience.
Because of his vast experience as an attorney, as an MAI appraiser, a CRE/ SRA and a State Certified Real Estate Appraiser and as a lecturer for the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Institute of Continuing Legal Education, and as an active member of the New Jersey Real Estate Tax Bar, Peter is well known among and has excellent relationships with the Tax Court Judges, Municipal Tax Assessors, the community of appraisers and active practitioners in the State. In 2019, Peter was co-chair of the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on the New Jersey Tax Court.
